Blue Northern Maine Coons

 Growing up, I always thought I wanted to be a veterinarian. That changed after I had a very special rabbit named Smokey. He was an English Angora and my best friend. He went everywhere with me. When the time came and we had to say goodbye, it stayed with me in a way I didn’t expect and made me realize that path wasn’t meant for me.

 

My journey with breeding didn’t start the way most people think. It’s been years in the making, and not always easy. I have around 12 years of experience working with cats, but it didn’t begin with Maine Coons. In my first relationship, we worked with Munchkins. At the time, I didn’t know much about pedigrees, paperwork, or the deeper side of breeding.

 

After that first litter, everything changed. That’s when I started learning more, growing more, and eventually found my passion for Maine Coons.

But life didn’t just fall into place.

 

I had to start over more than once. I’ve been in relationships where I helped build everything from the ground up, shared everything I knew, and still ended up having to walk away and rebuild on my own. One of those people is still breeding to this day. That experience could have made me quit, but it didn’t. If anything, it made me more determined to do this the right way, on my own terms.

 

Now, I’m in a completely different place. When Hunter came into my life, he wasn’t even really an animal person in the way I was. He said he liked cats, but he didn’t truly understand them yet. Over time, that changed. Now I catch him baby talking our cats in the most high-pitched, ridiculous voice, completely obsessed with them, and it makes me laugh every time. This isn’t just something I do anymore. It’s something we do together.

 

Breeding comes with reality. Loss is always going to exist when you’re working with life, and there are things you simply can’t control. But what keeps us going is everything in between.

 

Every time kittens are born, it’s the same feeling, and it has never once changed. That moment when they take their first breaths, when you see them start to move, when you realize they’re here, it never gets old. From there, we watch them grow every single day. Their personalities come out, they get stronger, more playful, more curious. You don’t just raise them, you bond with them. They become part of our home, part of our routine, part of us.

And then comes the moment they go home.

 

It’s hard, but it’s also one of the best feelings there is. Knowing that a kitten we raised is going to a family who has been waiting, who is ready to love them for the rest of their life… that’s everything.

 

We’re not just raising kittens. We’re helping create something lasting. A connection. A bond. A piece of someone’s life they’ll never forget And after everything it took to get here, that feeling means even more.
